This day tour takes you first along the river Vjosa, before climbing up into some wild and beautiful mountain scenery. Taking the asphalt from Permet, short after the village of Petran, you take a turn-off to the left, which takes you on a 4×4 track leading uphill. Its very steep & rocky over various sections, so expect to walk & push about 70% for the next 5km. But we think its worth that, and you can always take it easy. At the highest points you reach the isolated settlements of Lipivan & Trebozisht, containing old house and with friendly locals (but few left). After that a nice downhill takes you back down to the valley, from where you can cycle back to Permet. If you prefer an alternative for the way back, you can also cross the bridge in the center of Petran, and follow the flat 4×4 track on the other side of the river back to Permet.
Highlights: Along the “Vjosa” river, isolated settlements on highest point of route, café/lunch in Petran.
Water/Food/Accommodation: In Petran, the village before you leave the asphalt, there is a minimarket/bar, as well as a restaurant cooking excellent river fish.
